As soon as you pass Kancamagus Pass, the highest point on “The Kanc,” and start heading down, there is a pull-off that probably millions of people have stopped at, looked, and photographed. I wasn’t even dreaming of taking a photo here; I usually stay away from over-photographed places.
But it’s never really about the place. Photography is all about light. You can’t fake that in Photoshop.
As I was driving past this scene in the morning, I saw it. I saw the light. I stopped. Yes, I had taken photos here before, but only for personal record. This was something special. I had to have it. I wanted this light. So I took it. And now I have it, and I can share.
Osceola Autumn Glow comes from that pull-off just below Kancamagus Pass, where warm morning light bathes the ridges of East Osceola, Mount Osceola, and Scar Ridge. Puffy clouds catch the early gold of dawn, and thin cirrus drift across a blue sky above the ridgeline.
