Painting with light through the lens and coming up with a different way to approach a scene. It does look darkly lit, somewhere deep in the forest, and you come upon this island of light, soaking up the last rays of the sun before everything goes completely dark. And the lines make it look like looking through one of those old pieces of glass, through which you have to struggle to see. A nod to 1 Corinthians 13:12: "For now we see through a glass, darkly."
