I’m walking down the short trail toward the water. I still can’t see it, and I hear “honk, ah-honk.” I get closer to the water and see geese getting ready for a morning flight. “Honk, hronk, ah-honk, ka-lunk, a-honk, a-honk,” I hear. They start moving on the water, then running on the water, and one by one they take off for a flight on the Long Pond.
